Birds in New Jersey 2014

5 September 2014 - The goldfinch family saga, continued

For a minute, a hummingbird appears

After a brief drink, it leaves the yard.

The juvenile goldfinches wait for more food from papa goldfinch. The one juvenile can sustain its begging calls and wing flapping
for five minutes at a time.

Success.

Meanwhile, another father is forced to eat at the birdfeeder: Mr. Cardinal.

A juvenile cardinal squawks impatiently. I am surprised by how many baby / juvenile birds have appeared in September, begging to be
fed by their parents.

No father bird can resist that big, hungry mouth.

Back to the birdfeeder to get more food for junior.
