Birds in New Jersey 2014

11 September 2014, continued. A tiny overnight guest!

The Carolina wren checks out the main house sparrow feeder.

A juvenile house finch tries yet again to get the attention of an adult. No dice.

The juvenile is eating black oil sunflower seeds out of the mesh feeder without any problem.

As the light fades (around 7 p.m.), a lone Carolina wren spots a corner under a metal awning, and flies up into the corner, under the awning.
To my delight, the little bird then settles in and sleeps there.

In the fading light, a feral cat has a long drink.

13 September 2014 - A tiny overnight guest once more

This evening it's the mourning doves turn to invite every mourning dove in the neighbourhood.

It's raining heavily. The little wren decided to once again spend the night in the corner of the awning.
