Birds in New Jersey 2014
21 September 2014 - The new platform feeder and the mourning doves
Set out for those large cool birds to come and feast.
A familiar face: a male house sparrow
A familiar face: a male house finch
A familiar face: tufted titmouse
On the new platform feeder. Like all of the feeders in the back yard except one, it has fishing line to keep the house sparrows away.
However, when there are no house sparrows on the feeder furthest away from the house, all birds prefer to eat on that feeder.
A familiar face: a black-capped chickadee grabbing a seed to hide. I thought it would keep it tucked away for the winter,
but it seems it will find it and eat it within a week.
A mourning dove watches the birds enjoying the platform feeder.
Don't often see two titmice at the same time.
