Blue Jay inspects the seeds.... learning how to use the birdfeeder

Dark-eyed junco and female house sparrow on the left; white-throated sparrow and dark-eyed junco on the right

Usually on the ground kicking the snow, a white-throated sparrow uses a birdfeeder during the snowstorm

Grackle

Male house sparrow; grackle

Best guess: a female red-winged blackbird

Invasion of the dark-eyed juncos

Big bird, little seed.

As the blue jay moved around the ring of the feeder, the house sparrow kept moving around the ring, too

Dark-eyed junco in flight

It appears that a blue jay has to point its beak straight up to swallow.
