3 September - A cooper's hawk pays a visit. So many snacking opportunities.

The hawk moved, and was mostly hidden behind a tree.

In between climbing up and looking at the hawk, a squirrel nonchalantly groomed itself. Bravery or cheekiness?

The hawk took off, leaving the squirrel on one of the flat tops of the tree.

The Guardian of the Backyard.

The next day, 4 September, it was back to normal squirrel behavior, such as just hanging out in the sunshine.

8 September
It was very, very quiet in the backyard. This little downy woodpecker did its best impersonation of a woodpecker statue. Only its eyes blinked. What was up?

A coopers hawk had caught something, and was on a branch in the backyard, pulling the feathers or fur out of the victim.
