15 October - Familiar autumn visitors
Mature female northern cardinal
In the late afternoon, the cardinals visit the feeders. Sometimes they even give out a hissing sound to chase off smaller birds.
Nuthatches: these look like two different birds, photographed a few minutes apart.
Chickadee on suet feeder
Chickadee and house finches on the "finch feeder" (contains shelled sunflower seeds)
Tufted titmouse
Some birds are very, very cautious. The chickadee checks to make sure the coast is clear before taking a seed.
