The juncos have proved to be very adaptable. Here, one is eating from the tiny openings in a nyjer seed feeder, opposite a goldfinch.

One or two goldfinches are very feisty, and spend as much time chasing away other goldfinches as eating.

New camera: a Canon PowerShot SX730 HS. Being mostly automatic, it sometimes can't focus on what the photographer wants to see: two downy woodpeckers near each other on a suet feeder.

After a long hiatus, two mockingbirds have been visiting every day. Bath time, with a house sparrow. Bath time--on a chilly winter day.

A rare sight, until this year: two downy woodpeckers feeding together, a male and a female.

Dramatically larger: a hairy woodpecker

A very chilly day: minus 13 Celcius / 8 degrees Fahrenheit.
Not such a frequent visitor these days: a grackle.

Downy woodpecker

Mockingbird

Hairy woodpecker enjoying the suet. A downy wants to eat, too. It lands nearby and watches.

Finally, the little woodpecker joins the big woodpecker on the same suet feeder.

Cardinals have not been regular visitors this winter.
