Looking for seeds in the grass: two juvenile cardinals and their father
The "large exotic bird" on the platform feeder turns out to be our familiar friend, the mourning dove.
The inexpensive Costco mix used for the "house sparrow" feeder. It works out to less than 50 cents a day.
A recent shopping trip also included bags of black oil sunflower seeds (on sale), and peanuts. The peanuts are
treats for the squirrels, who usually take one and bury it right away.
