Birds in New Jersey 2014

November 2014 - visitors arrive once again

16 November 2014: a flock of migrating grackles descends. They try all the goodies available.

With the grackles, a red-winged blackbird and a brown-headed cowbird.

The house sparrows don't give up their their feeding spots on the feeder without a commotion.

The squirrel, trying yet again.

Three guests: male common grackle, male brown-headed cowbird, and male red-winged blackbird in its first year (very different
in appearance from a fully grown adult; no red wingbars yet).

Immature male red-winged blackbird and brown-headed cowbird. They might even be brothers, since cowbirds are raised
by other species.

Seven mourning doves, and, wait a minute, what's that little sparrow on the far left?
